Beautiful feet for summer!

We have had a hint of summer to know it is not far away and now Its the time to take off the shoes and slip your feet into a pair of thongs or a pair of sexy sandals. However, you realise that your cuticles are unkempt and the heels are rough and unattractive. Well, here are a few inexpensive tips in getting amazing feet this summer.

- Soak your feet in warm water for about 7 to 10 minutes – even nicer if you use a foot soak.

- Pat your feet dry with a clean towel. Don’t forget to dry between the toes also. – Cut the nails straight across.

. – Use a pumice stone to remove the rough ‘material’ from your heels.

- Massage the cuticle area with moisturizer. – Gently push the cuticles back.

- Apply some lotion and massage into each foot. Remove any excess.

To get the finished look, apply some nail polish if you wish.

- Put some polish on your brush but just enough to paint one or two strokes down the centre of the nail. Stroke the sides of the nail.. (Remember to use the protective base basecoat before applying any colour to your nails.

- Wait until the polish is dry then apply the topcoat. It is imperative that you do not forget this step as it not only gives the desired sheen but it also adds life to your pedicure and protects the nail as well

. Have fun and be proud in showing off those fabulous, ‘home-done’ nails this summer.

Top tips.

Facts There are 250,000 sweat glands on the feet.

Your feet can swell by up to one full shoe size when hot.

People who go barefoot or wear open sandals most of the time don’t suffer from smelly feet or athletes foot.

Hot swollen feet make your legs ache and feel tired.

How do you spoil and treat yourself?

Posted by Julie on August 17, 2009

Who needs a trip to a spa? We all do! The healthy meals, face and body treatments and personalised exercise programs are indulgences we could all do with. But it can be hard to find the time and money to sneak away.

  • Create your own spa experience at home by changing into loose, comfortable clothes then lighting an aromatherapy candle, playing some soft music and sipping a cup of herbal tea.
  • Wash away your cares with a warm bath with a face mask.  Great for a weekly skin treatment.
  • Exfoliate with a good quality salt scrub ( you deserve it and your skin will love it)
  • Store your eye cream in the fridge and apply it each morning for a quick and easy revitaliser.  The cooling effect of the chilled cream will help to reduce puffiness around the eyes. – or use an eye mask while soaking in the tub.
  • Treat  your hands and nails to a hand scrub and  manicure.
  • Keep fit and healthy through regular physical activity – it’s a guaranteed way to make you look and feel sensational.
  • Boost your energy levels by being more conscious of the foods you eat. Make sure your diet encompasses a wide variety of fresh produce and you’ll be sure to feel the difference, both mentally and physically.
  • Take a moment to enjoy the beauty of nature and interact with your environment. Slow down, breathe deeply and take a moment to reflect on all the things in your life that you have to be grateful for.

I would love to hear how you relax and treat yourself.

till next time

Julie
